About the role;

As a Business Intelligence Consultant, you will work on all aspects of implementation and support of customer facing Data and Analytics Projects, from presales discovery and requirements gathering to solution design, installation and development, to implementation, testing, training and handover of the BI solution to the customer.
 
As a Practice, we aim to deliver business improvement to customers in a wide range of industries. You will focus on analysing new and existing software development requirements, proposing appropriate solutions and timelines, and carrying out development work individually or as part of a wider development team. This will include data analytics as well as data engineering activities, such as building data pipelines to extract, transform, model and warehousing data via ETL/ETL methodologies, then building dashboards and reports, to answer the key questions the customer has, taking their data and turning it into knowledge, information and wisdom.
 
You will be exposed to projects on a variety of product stacks, with a ‘T’ shaped approach, predominantly focusing on Data Warehousing using Azure and SQL Server technologies, but also tools such Qlik Sense and Power BI, either individually or as part of a cross-practice team, depending on project size and scope.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;
 
  • Deliver end to end Business Intelligence (BI) projects, from a Data Engineering / Data Warehousing perspective, using an agile methodology
  • Scope, analyse, and gather requirements, and design and architect appropriate Data Warehousing solutions.
  • Extract data from multiple data sources, following ETL / ELT best practices
  • Build data pipelines to transform and load data into dimensional models in a Data Warehouse for use by downstream analytics tools 
  • Build user friendly, functional, yet beautiful dashboards and reports using data visualisation techniques using Power BI and Qlik technologies
  • Manage projects following TSG best practices
  • Provide technical support to the TSG Service Desk, to resolve customer BI issues and queries
  • Assist the sales cycle via presales/discovery activities and building proof of concept dashboards/ETLs
  • Provide training and facilitate workshops to customers
  • UK wide travel and overnight stays to meet customer requirements 
  • Proactively manage personal development and ‘up skilling’ of technical abilities
  • Mentor and train junior members of the team to develop and grow their skillset
 
Knowledge, Skills & Experience;                       
 
  • At least 3 years demonstratable experience of developing/implementing/supporting solutions with any major ETL tools, for example:
    Azure: Azure Synapse Analytics / Azure Data Factory / Azure Data Lake / Azure SQL
    SQL Server:  SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) / Analysis Services (SSAS) / Reporting Services (SSRS), T-SQL
  • SQL programming
  • ETL, Data warehousing and Dimensional (Kimball) modelling
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals / Data Engineer, Qlik and Power BI would be advantageous
  • Experience in Power BI or Qlik Sense/QlikView would be advantageous
  • Data visualisation skills, using design flair to design beautiful yet functional dashboards
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and spoken English with project stakeholders and colleagues
  • Software design principles and best practice
