About the role;

Reporting to Technical Field Team Leader the role of a Technical Installation Engineer is to deliver a range of services to agreed deadlines and within budget. In this role you will also be expected to carry out both on-site and remote pro-active work as required.
 
This position will be based out at field covering Reading and the surrounding areas, so you must be comfortable travelling regularly, and a driving license is essential.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; 
 
  • Execution of a range of projects to completion with customer acceptance
  • Hardware and software installations based primarily around Microsoft / HP technologies, at customer sites inside and if required outside your region
  • Undertake break / fix support tickets as and when required
  • Undertake remote and on-site Proactive visits as and when required
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and seek to gain relevant certifications
  • Assist with post-installation and break/fix issues
  • Document all project work to a high standard
  • Maintain boot stock and conduct audits as required
  • Escalate any issues to Technical Field Team Leader / Technical Manager
 
Knowledge, Skills & Experience;                       
 
  • Ability to manage several on-going projects at any given time and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Natural drive to look for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Able to work well as part of a team and individually
  • Driving license is essential
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Conscientious, well organised and customer focussed
  • Strong logical/trouble shooting skills
  • Experience of hardware including HP server and similar hardware
  • Broad knowledge Router and Firewall hardware
  • Good knowledge of PC, laptop and similar hardware
  • Knowledge of backup devices and similar hardware is desirable
  • Knowledge of current IT technologies and software
  • Experience of PC and Laptop operating systems
  • Knowledge of IP LAN / Switching / WAN technologies
  • Server Host OS and understanding of hypervisor products is desirable
  • Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Azure Platform is desirable
  • Sophos UTM / XG Firewall products is desirable
  • Datto backup products and services is desirable
  • Mimecast content filtering is desirable
